Apartments Go Green With Recycling at Nevada Rentals

As a follow up to my article on Nevada rentals I found this and wanted to link to it.

Some apartments in Nevada have started providing their residents with pick up of their recyclable items instead of having them leave the property and go to recycle centers. Most residents are please with this change.

Some Nevada rentals offer recycle bins on each floor. Residents put all their items unseparated in a blue bag and drop them in the bin at the end of the hallway. This method keeps residents from having to try and figure out which item goes where.

“The difference there is (residents) don’t have to work harder to figure out where the recycling container is,” Bob Coyle, said. “Whereas you get into the bigger apartment complexes, unless they were designed to have a trash container and a recycling container side by side, the recycle container may be 300 feet from somebody’s apartment door. Most apartment dwellers don’t wander around the complex looking for the (recycling) container.”

Nevada recycles about 22 percent of all solid waste. The national average for recycling is 32 percent according to the folks at https://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/mar/06/valley-apartments-go-green-recycling/.
